A pic that I started in English. Started along quite well, and progressed pretty nicely even when I added the background (which alone seems ok, but does not work well with the un-perspectived Odysseus...>.>;). Then I coloured it in, realized he looked like he had a chemical burn, and stopped. I'll be submitting this to ~ArtistsHospital to see if they can give me some advicing on colour skin. ^^; I really don't want to screw this up...

I cam to you page from the artist hospital thing. I didn't comment right away and browsed through you other stuff 'cause I was thinking of what I could suggest...

I think this is a really nice piece so far. I think you've done a great job with the penciling and inking. And the perspective! It surely adds a lot of depth.

I don't think your colouring is bad but I understand how you feel about it because I'm not so good with colours either. There have been times when I too thought I ruined something after colouring it. I'm just trying to think of what to suggest here..... hmmm....

Pieces like this remind me of Michaelangelo.... Maybe try looking at his works and see how he colours his figures (I know he uses paints and not coloured pencil but maybe you can try to emulate). You can find a lot if you just google him under Images. Also take a look at maybe Da Vinci and Caravaggio as I think chiaroscuro (making distinctions between light and dark, very characteristic of Renaissance Era) would really go well with a dramatic piece such as this.

Thanks alot for the critique! I'll look them up and see what I can find. Yeah, I was originally going to paint it, but realized the ink was water-soluble...^^; Thanks so much for your wonderful comments on my other stuff as well, I really appreciate it.

OK, you know who this is.

I drew up a draw over for you on the perspective issue, I know you are asking for coloring, but it's probably helpful for you to see this break downs on your perspective setting: [link]

Notice how your figure's perspective actually do not align with your enviroment's, when you plan for a new piece next time, make sure they stay on the same horizon line for comfortable viewing, to create a depth that's believable.

Since you applied watersoluble ink, you might want to go with dry medium.

To save this piece, you can first shade it with one basic tone or shade, in this case, maybe you can pick out red brown, since your skin is in that range. First do it as if it's monochromatic, then shade in the other colors to blend and build on top, plan a light source, and use perspective to make the light source obvious.

Explained lights and it's behavior quite thoroughly.

Thank you so much for the critique and valuable advice. I read through the whole page of that last link you provided and it was extremely helpful, not to mention the perspective lines you drew on my pic. I'll go back over it and have another go at the skin. Again, thanks a ton.

Well, I don't know too much about coloured pencils, but...It looks to me that you're using really yellowish colours. I'd try going more towards pink and white to get a more fleshy feel for the skin, though I'm not sure if you could go over the yellow at this point.

Everything else here looks great though. I look forward to seeing the finish product. <3
No probs... :) If I find more, I let you know :D Work hard babes
